This project was devised and produced entirely by Pilot Studios for The Hop Farm Family Park at Paddock Wood in Kent.
The exhibition was created in three parts and housed in three of the original Oast Houses, it tells the story of Hop picking in Kent from the perspective of the people involved during the early 1950’s and 1960’s.

Each exhibition area contained a 46 inch LCD screen showing a film and static exhibition relative to the subjects covered. ‘Hopping Down in Kent’, ‘The Hop Growers Year’ and ‘Memories of Hop Picking’.
Once the scripts had been written the actors were fimed in a professional sound studio with a greenscreen.
The completed footage was then edited and combined with CGI graphics, location filming at a local Hop Farm and existing original film footage from the Hop Farm Archives.
The process involves 1 importing the greenscreen footage of the actors into the editing software, 2 creating an alpha channel then 3 ‘compositing’ the film footage, animation, still images with effects and the soundtrack to 4 create the final movie.
Pilot Studios also commissioned professional musicians and singers to record a new version of the ‘Hop Pickers Song’. The Hop Story and song was then edited into a DVD to sell in the Hop Farm shop.
